Companies hiring SDRs are building or growing an outbound team, which means new decisions about lists, dialers, sequencers, training and recruiting in the next few months. You find them on company careers pages, on the job boards their applicant tracking systems host (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby) and on Indeed.
Scalelist does not sell a hiring feed. You bring the list of companies; Scalelist gets you the sales leader who is hiring, with a verified work email and a mobile number. Below: how to read an SDR job post, where to search, how to tell a first hire from a backfill, who to contact and what to say.
Why are companies hiring SDRs a buying signal?
Companies hiring SDRs have decided to create pipeline through outbound and have approved the headcount to do it. Every SDR needs a list to work, a way to call and email, and a manager to coach them, and those decisions get made around the time the first hire starts.
Hiring signals work the same way in every function: companies hiring sales reps, engineers or nurses each tell you who is about to buy what. This page uses SDR hiring as the worked example because the posting says so much. Hiring is one of the sales trigger events you can see without paying for data.
How to read an SDR job post
An SDR job post tells you four things a cold list never will: whether outbound is new, who owns it, what tools they use and how many people they are hiring.

- “First” or “founding” SDR: outbound is new at this company. Nothing is bought yet.
- “Reports to”: the manager named in the post is your buyer.
- Tools: named tools tell you what they have and what is missing. It is free technographic data.
- Number of openings: several at once means a team budget, not a replacement.
Where to find companies hiring SDRs
Search where the postings are published first: the company’s own careers page and the job board its applicant tracking system (ATS) hosts. General job boards and paid feeds come after.

Careers pages of your target accounts
If you already have a target account list, check each careers page once a week. It is slow, but it is the source every other board copies.
ATS job boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby)
Many startups host their jobs on their ATS: job-boards.greenhouse.io, jobs.lever.co or jobs.ashbyhq.com, followed by the company name. A search engine will search those sites for you:
site:jobs.lever.co "sales development representative"
site:jobs.ashbyhq.com "SDR" "founding"
site:job-boards.greenhouse.io "SDR" "Chicago"
"founding SDR" OR "first SDR"
Add a city, an industry word or “remote” to narrow the results. Set the search engine’s date range to the past month.
Indeed and other job boards
Search the title, set the location and sort by date. Job boards are wide but noisy: staffing agencies post roles for their clients, and some listings stay up long after the role is filled.
Job-posting data feeds
Several vendors sell job postings as structured data. They are worth paying for when you track thousands of accounts. For a few hundred, the searches above are enough.
First SDR, team build or backfill: how to qualify the posting
Not every SDR posting is a buying signal. Qualify it by what the posting says about the team, because SDR seats turn over constantly.
The Bridge Group’s 2025 research (351 B2B companies) puts the average SDR tenure at 1.9 years and median annual SDR attrition at 40% in 2024, including promotions. It also puts average SDR ramp time at 3.0 months (The Bridge Group, 2025). So a single SDR opening at a company with an existing team is often a seat being refilled.

Rank your list this way before you spend a credit. A new SDR leader opening is worth a note too: reach the leader once they start, with our guide to new executives in their first 90 days.
Who to contact at a company hiring SDRs
Contact the person the SDR will report to. The post often names them; if not, the reporting line follows company size.
- Under about 50 employees: the founder or CEO, or the first sales leader.
- About 50 to 500 employees: the Head of Sales Development, the SDR Manager or the VP of Sales.
- If you sell recruiting services: the recruiter or Head of Talent who owns the opening.
The pool is small. On 27 September 2026, Scalelist matched 393 sales development leaders (head, director or manager of sales development) at US software companies with 51 to 500 employees, and over 2,700 VPs of Sales in the same segment. Across all US industries, the same sales development titles return over 5,700 people.
How to turn companies hiring SDRs into people you can call
A list of companies hiring SDRs becomes a call list in four steps. Scalelist handles steps 2 and 3 and only charges for what it finds.
1. List the companies and the manager named in each post
One row per company: name, website domain, posting URL, date posted, number of SDR openings and the “reports to” name if there is one.
2. When the post names the manager, find their email and mobile
Upload the names and company domains to the Scalelist Email Finder, then to the Mobile Finder. Each email comes back Valid, Risky or Not found.
3. When it does not, find the role
In Claude, the Scalelist MCP server takes the company names and a title such as “Head of Sales Development” and returns the people. To work the whole segment, describe it in Scalelist Lead Finder: it shows what it understood and how many people match before you spend a credit.
4. Call and email in the same week
Reach out while the posting is live. Once the hire has started and ramped, the choices are made.
Credit math for 30 companies hiring SDRs, one manager each: 30 leads (30 credits), 30 emails at most (30 credits) and 30 mobiles at most (600 credits), so 660 credits in the worst case, less for every miss. That fits the Scaler 1K plan at 49 USD a month (Scalelist plans and credits).
Paste the managers from this week’s SDR postings and get their verified emails and mobiles.

Rampwell, an SDR onboarding program in Chicago, sells to companies building their first SDR team. Cedar Analytics in Denver just posted three SDR roles, including a founding SDR reporting to Rachel Kim, VP of Sales. Both companies are fictional.
Hi Rachel,
Saw Cedar is hiring its first three SDRs. New SDRs take about 3 months to ramp on average, and the first cohort writes the playbook everyone after them copies.
Rampwell runs a 4-week onboarding for first SDR teams: call scripts, weekly call reviews and a list-building routine.
Worth comparing notes before they start?
Dana Ortiz, Rampwell
Why it works: it references the exact posting, uses one number the reader can check, and ends with a question only Rachel can answer. If you sell training, our 30-day cold calling training plan shows what a first SDR cohort needs.
Common challenges with hiring signals (and the fix)
The posting is evergreen
Some companies leave an SDR role open all year. Fix: check the posting date and whether the same role was reposted. Older than about 60 days is a low priority.
An agency posted it
Staffing firms post SDR roles for their clients and hide the employer’s name. Fix: skip it, or call the agency if you sell to agencies.
The role is remote or outside your market
Fix: read the location line. A US company hiring SDRs in another country may buy data and tools for that region, not yours.
The manager is buried in interviews
Fix: keep the email under 90 words and call. A two-minute call is easier to take than a meeting request.
Best practices for hiring-signal outreach
- Run the search strings every Monday and log the posting date.
- Reach out within two weeks of the posting.
- Quote the posting, not a generic “saw you’re growing”.
- Keep one primary contact and one backup per company.
Hiring often follows a round, so pair this with companies that just raised funding. For how hiring compares with other signals by shelf life, see buying signals data and the list of B2B buying signals.
How Scalelist helps
Scalelist, an AI Lead Finder, turns a list of companies hiring SDRs into the managers who are hiring, with verified work emails and mobile numbers. It finds and verifies contact details on demand rather than serving a pre-compiled list.
Before you pick a segment, check it against your ideal customer profile: a company hiring SDRs outside your ICP is still outside your ICP.
Your Lead Finder sentence
Lead Finder does not know which companies posted a job this week; your search does. What Lead Finder does is size and pull the people who hire SDRs in your segment, so you know who to call when the posting appears.

VPs of Sales at US software companies with 51 to 500 employees
Heads of Sales at US staffing and recruiting firms with 11 to 200 employees
Paste one of these sentences into Lead Finder and see the count before you spend a credit.

Where can I find companies hiring SDRs?
Start with the careers pages of your target accounts, then search the applicant tracking system job boards (job-boards.greenhouse.io, jobs.lever.co, jobs.ashbyhq.com) with a search engine, for example site:jobs.lever.co “sales development representative”. Add Indeed sorted by date for breadth, and log the posting date for every company.
Are companies hiring SDRs good leads?
Yes, when the posting shows a new motion or a team build: a “founding SDR”, three or more openings, or a new SDR manager role. A single opening at a company with an existing SDR team is often a backfill, since median annual SDR attrition was 40% in 2024 according to The Bridge Group.
Who should I contact at a company hiring sales reps?
Contact the manager the new rep will report to. Job posts often name them. At companies under about 50 employees that is usually the founder or first sales leader; above that, the Head of Sales Development, SDR Manager or VP of Sales. Recruiting firms should contact the recruiter who owns the opening.
How long does a hiring signal last?
Treat it as live while the posting is open and for a few weeks after. The Bridge Group puts average SDR ramp time at 3.0 months, and the tools and training a new SDR needs have to be in place by then. A posting older than about 60 days is a weak signal.
Does Scalelist sell a list of companies that are hiring?
No. Scalelist does not sell funding, hiring or leadership-change feeds. You find the companies on careers pages and job boards, and Scalelist finds the managers who are hiring, with verified work emails and mobile numbers: 1 credit per email found, 20 per mobile found, nothing for a miss.
I am looking for an SDR job. Does this page help?
Yes. The same search strings find open SDR roles, and the “reports to” line tells you which sales leader to write to directly. A short note to the hiring manager that references the posting can get read before the applicant pile. See what a sales development representative does.
