Contents

The best Hunter.io alternatives in 2026 are Scalelist, Snov.io, Skrapp.io, Icypeas, Anymail Finder, Findymail, Prospeo, Apollo.io, Lusha and ContactOut. The right one depends on what Hunter is not giving you: mobile numbers, a lower price per email, fewer bounces or more sending.

Every tool gets the same seven fields, from its own pricing page on 27 September 2026: what it is, entry price, how pricing works, mobile numbers, whether a miss is charged, who it fits and where it falls short. Anything a vendor does not publish reads “not published”.

We make Scalelist, and it is on this list. It is not the cheapest way to buy emails, and the price chart below shows it.

Why people look for Hunter.io alternatives

Most teams look for Hunter alternatives because Hunter sells email and nothing else, not because its emails are expensive. Hunter is an email finder, email verifier and cold email sequencing tool, and every plan is built around that one channel.

Six reasons teams look for Hunter alternatives: no mobile numbers, email coverage of 57% to 39% by region, inbox caps, bundled sending, paid verification
Hunter is cheap for email; teams leave when they need the phone number, more coverage or fewer inbox limits.
  • No mobile numbers. Hunter has no phone product; Domain Search shows “Phone numbers (only for personal emails)”. A team that calls needs a second tool.
  • Coverage varies by region. In our own benchmark, Hunter found an email for 57% of a North America list, 67% in EMEA, 41% in APAC and 39% in Latin America.
  • Inbox caps force upgrades. Starter connects 3 email accounts, Growth 10 and Scale 20, so a fourth inbox moves you from 49 to 149 USD a month.
  • Sending you may not use. Every paid plan bundles sequences, which sit idle if you already use a sequencer.
  • Verification per check, rollover unknown. Checking an outside address costs 0.5 credit, and Hunter does not publish whether unused credits carry over.

To be fair to Hunter: it is one of the cheapest ways to buy work emails. One credit buys one email found, which is 2.45 cents on Starter and 1.20 cents on Scale, billed monthly. A lookup that finds nothing is free, a repeat search counts once per billing period, and every plan includes unlimited team members.

If email is all you need, Hunter is still a sound buy. Our Hunter pricing breakdown shows the cost per email on every plan, and our full Hunter.io review covers where it performs well.

Hunter.io alternatives compared at a glance

The 10 Hunter.io alternatives differ most on four things that change your bill: the entry price, whether they sell mobile numbers, what one costs and whether you pay when nothing is found. Hunter sits in the first row as the baseline.

Every tool here publishes a card price; seven of the ten sell mobile numbers, which Hunter does not.

Which Hunter.io alternative is best?

The best Hunter.io alternative is the one that fills the gap Hunter leaves for you. If you need mobile numbers for calls, Scalelist returns verified emails and mobiles from a one-sentence description and charges only for what it finds. If you want Hunter’s find-and-send model with more sending and unlimited seats, Snov.io is the closest match.

If you only want cheaper emails, Skrapp.io (39 USD for 2,000 credits) and Icypeas (from 19 USD plus VAT for 1,000) cost less than Hunter at small volume. For fewer bounces, Anymail Finder refunds the credit when a verified email bounces. Findymail, Prospeo, Apollo.io and Lusha add phone numbers to a Hunter-style email finder at 5 to 10 credits per number.

How we picked and compared these tools

We picked the Hunter.io competitors that buyers shortlist for the same job, verified work emails on a plan you pay by card, and checked each one on its own website.

  • Self-serve price: the cheapest paid plan, plus the plan that covers about 2,000 emails a month, the volume of Hunter’s Starter plan.
  • Billing model: credits, seats, tokens or flat fees, and whether unused credits roll over.
  • Mobile numbers: sold or not, and what one costs in credits and in dollars at the entry plan.
  • Misses: whether a lookup that finds nothing costs anything, in the vendor’s own words.
  • Evidence: coverage numbers only from our own published benchmark, for the 5 tools here that were in it plus Hunter. Vendor claims are labeled as claims.
  • Date: every pricing page was rendered in a browser on 27 September 2026. Prices change, so check before you buy.

Quote-only databases are left out, because a Hunter buyer pays by card. If you are weighing Seamless.AI anyway, start with our Seamless.AI pricing breakdown and Scalelist vs Seamless.AI. The enterprise end is covered in ZoomInfo competitors compared and our Seamless.AI alternatives roundup.

The 10 best Hunter.io alternatives in 2026

The tools are grouped by the gap they fill: Scalelist first, then the closest Hunter lookalike, three cheaper or safer email finders, two email finders that add phones, two sales platforms and one flat-price tool.

1. Scalelist

  • What it is: Scalelist is an AI Lead Finder. You describe the people you want in one sentence, see how many match for free, then get them with verified work emails and mobile numbers.
  • Entry price: 29 USD a month for 500 credits, or 290 USD a year. 2,000 credits cost 89 USD; plans go to 649 USD for 20,000, custom above that (Scalelist plans and credits).
  • How pricing works: Credits, no seats, no annual contract. 1 credit per lead or email found, 20 per mobile found. Unused credits roll over up to 2x the monthly allocation while you stay subscribed.
  • Mobile numbers: Yes, 20 credits per mobile found. That is about 1.16 USD on the 500-credit plan, 0.80 USD at 5,000 credits and 0.65 USD at 20,000.
  • Charged on a miss: No. Every email is verified before it is returned and labeled Valid or Risky.
  • Best for: Teams that call as well as email and want new leads and their mobile numbers from one description.
  • Where it falls short: It costs more per email than Hunter (89 USD for 2,000 emails against 49), it does not send email, and several tools below cost less per phone at entry plans.

2. Snov.io

  • What it is: Snov.io is a sales suite that combines an email finder and verifier, a B2B prospect database, cold email sequences, warm-up and a CRM, with phone enrichment sold separately in tokens.
  • Entry price: 39 USD a month for 1,000 credits (Starter), or 29.25 USD billed annually. The trial gives 50 credits that renew every 30 days (Snov.io pricing page).
  • How pricing works: Credits, with unlimited seats: 1 per prospect found with an email. Pro S is 99 USD for 5,000 and Ultra 738 USD for 100,000. Credits roll over while you stay subscribed.
  • Mobile numbers: Yes, through tokens bought separately: 10 or 22 per prospect at 0.02 USD each, so 0.20 to 0.44 USD. Packs start at 10,000 tokens for 200 USD and last 90 days.
  • Charged on a miss: No. “No credits are charged when no email address is found,” and for phones, “You’re not charged if we don’t find a result.”
  • Best for: Small teams that want Hunter’s find-and-send model with more sending features and unlimited seats.
  • Where it falls short: Phones need a separate token pack and are not in the API. The pricing page still labels verified phones “Coming June 2026” while the help center documents them as live. 2,000 emails a month means Pro S at 99 USD.

3. Skrapp.io

  • What it is: Skrapp.io is a B2B email finder with a Chrome extension, lead search, bulk enrichment and an email verifier.
  • Entry price: 39 USD a month for 2,000 credits and 2 users (Professional), or 29 USD billed annually. Free plan: 50 credits for 1 user (Skrapp.io pricing page).
  • How pricing works: Credits, 1 per email found. Plans step up to 25,000 credits for 199 USD and 50,000 for 349 USD, with more users at each step. Credits roll over, and you keep them if you cancel.
  • Mobile numbers: No. Skrapp.io does not sell phone numbers.
  • Charged on a miss: No. It charges only for deliverable emails, which it labels “Valid” or “Catch-all”.
  • Best for: Solo sellers and small teams that only need work emails and want the lowest bill at 2,000 a month.
  • Where it falls short: No phones and no sending. Professional caps you at 20 people searches and 5 AI searches a day, and the API is Enterprise only.

4. Icypeas

  • What it is: Icypeas is a low-cost email finder and verifier with catch-all verification, domain scan and people and company search, sold on credits that never expire.

  • How pricing works: Credits: 1 per found email, 0.1 per email verified. Premium is 39 USD for 4,000 and Hypergrowth 499 USD for 100,000 found emails. Credits “never expire, even if you downgrade or cancel”.
  • Mobile numbers: No. The pricing page lists its Phone Finder as “Coming soon”.
  • Charged on a miss: No. It charges “1 credit per found email”.
  • Best for: Email-only volume at the lowest price per found email, bought ahead without expiry pressure.
  • Where it falls short: No phones yet, and every price excludes VAT. The yearly Hypergrowth card shows the same volume as the monthly one, so confirm it before you pay for a year.

5. Anymail Finder

  • What it is: Anymail Finder is an email finder and verifier that checks every address live against the recipient’s mail server and charges only for verified emails.

  • How pricing works: Credits, shared by unlimited team members: 1 per email found, 2 per decision maker, 0.2 per outside email verified. Credits roll over with no cap while you stay subscribed. No annual billing; one-time packs start at 249 USD for 5,000 credits.
  • Mobile numbers: No. Email finding and verification only.
  • Charged on a miss: No: “No verified email found? You don’t pay.” A verified email that bounces gets its credit back when you report it.
  • Best for: Teams whose sender reputation matters more than the lowest price per email, including on catch-all domains.
  • Where it falls short: At 2,000 emails it costs 89 USD, more than twice Skrapp.io’s 39. No phones, no sending. Its “97%+ delivery guarantee” and 86.4% coverage figure come from its own benchmark.

  • Best for: Teams that want Hunter’s email focus plus some non-EU phone numbers from one credit pool.
  • Where it falls short: No free plan, and 2,000 emails a month means the 99 USD Starter plan. In our benchmark it found a phone number for 32% of the North America list and 12% in EMEA.

What emails and mobiles cost with each Hunter.io alternative

At about 2,000 emails a month, only Skrapp.io and Icypeas cost less than Hunter’s 49 USD. For phone numbers, one mobile costs from about 0.17 USD to 1.16 USD at each tool’s entry plan, and four tools on this page sell none.

About 2,000 emails a month

This is the cheapest monthly-billed plan that covers 2,000 emails, the volume of Hunter’s Starter plan.

Bar chart of the monthly price for about 2,000 emails: Skrapp.io and Icypeas 39, Hunter and Prospeo 49, Apollo 65, Anymail Finder and Scalelist 89, Lusha 399.90 USD
For email alone, Hunter is one of the cheapest buys; only Skrapp.io and Icypeas cost less at this volume.

Hunter is hard to beat on email alone. Prospeo matches it for one user, Scalelist and Anymail Finder cost 89 USD, and Snov.io and Findymail jump to their 5,000-credit plans at 99 USD. ContactOut is left off: its 49 USD plan allows 2,000 email lookups under fair use but only 300 exports a month.

Yearly billing cuts most of these prices: Hunter drops to 34 USD a month and Skrapp.io to 29 USD.

One mobile number

This is the cost of one mobile at each tool’s cheapest plan with phones, billed monthly. Hunter, Skrapp.io, Icypeas and Anymail Finder do not sell phone numbers.

Bar chart of the cost of one mobile number at entry plans: ContactOut 0.17, Snov.io 0.20 to 0.44, Apollo 0.21, Prospeo 0.25, Findymail 0.49, Lusha 0.62, Scalelist 1.16 USD
Scalelist costs the most per number at entry, charges only when a mobile is found, and drops to 0.65 USD at 20,000 credits.

Two things change the real number. A bundled export or token is only cheap if it holds a number you can dial, and ContactOut does not publish its miss rule. Bigger plans and yearly billing also cut the price: Apollo.io drops to 0.16 USD, Lusha to 0.47 USD and Scalelist to 0.65 USD at 20,000 credits.

Why Scalelist is the better fit for teams that call and email

Scalelist fits teams whose reps pick up the phone, because it returns the mobile number Hunter does not sell and charges only when one is found. Here is the case, and where it stops.

Hunter vs Scalelist comparison: Hunter sells 2,000 emails for 49 USD with sequences but no mobiles; Scalelist 2,000 emails for 89 USD or 100 mobiles
Hunter wins on price per email; Scalelist is the one that returns a number your reps can dial.

Mobiles you pay for only when they are found

A mobile costs 20 credits, an email 1 and a lead 1, and a miss costs nothing. On the 2,000-credit plan, 89 USD buys 2,000 emails, 100 mobiles or any mix of the two. A list of 300 contacts where 200 mobiles are found costs 4,000 credits, not 6,000.

Coverage we measured and published

We ran the same list of founders through 8 data providers in North America, EMEA, APAC and Latin America, and published the raw data in our B2B data provider comparison. Six tools on this page were in it: Hunter, Scalelist, Findymail, Apollo.io, Icypeas and Prospeo.

Bar chart from Scalelist's benchmark, North America: emails found Scalelist 92%, Findymail 87%, Apollo 77%, Icypeas 76%, Hunter 57%, Prospeo 42%; phones 87, 32, 50, n/a, n/a, 75%
Hunter found an email for 57% of this list and has no phone product; test your own 100 contacts before you switch.

On the North America list, Scalelist found an email for 92% and a phone number for 87%, against 57% and no phone product for Hunter. Outside North America, Scalelist found phones for 73% in EMEA, 75% in APAC and 85% in Latin America.

It is our own test, not an independent study, so run 100 of your own contacts through your shortlist before you sign. Our provider test method shows how.

One sentence instead of a search form

You describe the audience, for example “Controllers at US construction companies with 100 to 500 employees”. The Scalelist Lead Finder shows what it understood (title, industry, location, company size) and how many people match, before you spend a credit. Then you export a CSV, push to HubSpot or send to lemlist, Instantly or Smartlead.

Already have a Hunter export of names and companies? Upload it to the Mobile Finder and pay 20 credits only for the mobiles it finds.

Where Scalelist is not the best choice

  • Email-only volume: Hunter is about half our price per email credit: 2.45 cents against 4.45 at 2,000 credits, and 1.49 against 3.49 at 10,000. Skrapp.io and Icypeas cost less again.
  • One tool to find and send: Scalelist does not send email. Hunter, Snov.io and Apollo.io include sequences.
  • Cheapest phone credit: on paper, six tools above cost less per number than Scalelist’s 0.65 to 1.16 USD. Compare the cost per number that connects, not per credit.
  • Bounce refunds: if a refund on bounced emails matters most, Anymail Finder publishes one.
  • Security reviews: Scalelist operates under the GDPR and Singapore’s PDPA, with a Data Processing Agreement, Standard Contractual Clauses and a published sub-processor list, and holds no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification. Findymail, Apollo.io, Lusha and ContactOut each publish SOC 2, which some procurement teams require.

When to stay on Hunter

Stay on Hunter if all three of these are true for your team:

  • You only need work emails, not phone numbers.
  • You want finding and sending in one tool, with unlimited team members.
  • Your volume fits Starter or Growth (2,000 to 10,000 credits a month) and 10 sending inboxes or fewer.

In that case, switching saves little and costs you a new setup.

How to choose a Hunter.io alternative

Choose a Hunter.io alternative by the one thing Hunter does not give you, then by how you want to pay for it.

Decision tree for choosing a Hunter alternative: Scalelist for mobile numbers, Skrapp.io or Icypeas for cheaper emails, Anymail Finder for bounces, Snov.io for sending
Replace the one thing Hunter does not do for you, not the whole tool.
  1. Name the gap. Mobile numbers, a lower price per email, fewer bounces or more sending.
  2. Count last month’s volume. Emails found, phones dialed and sending inboxes.
  3. Price emails and mobiles separately. A phone costs 5 to 20 times an email on credit plans (Lusha 5, Apollo.io 8, Findymail and Prospeo 10, Scalelist 20), so price your real mix.
  4. Read the miss and rollover rules in the vendor’s words: Prospeo credits reset every cycle, Icypeas credits never expire.
  5. Check who pays per user. Prospeo and Apollo.io charge per seat, ContactOut allows 1 user, and Hunter and Snov.io include unlimited seats. Our guide to how credits and seats compare walks through each model.
  6. Test before you switch. Run the same 100 contacts through your top two tools and count emails that deliver and calls that connect.

FAQ

What is the best alternative to Hunter.io?

It depends on the gap. For mobile numbers charged only when found, Scalelist. For Hunter’s find-and-send model with unlimited seats, Snov.io. For cheaper emails, Skrapp.io at 39 USD for 2,000 credits, or Icypeas from 19 USD plus VAT. For bounce refunds, Anymail Finder. For emails plus phones at 5 to 10 credits a number, Findymail, Prospeo, Apollo.io or Lusha.

Is there a Hunter.io alternative that finds phone numbers?

Yes. Scalelist (20 credits per mobile found), Findymail (10 credits, non-EU contacts only), Prospeo (10 credits), Apollo.io (8 credits), Lusha (5 credits) and ContactOut (the 99 USD Email + Phone plan) all sell phone numbers. Snov.io sells them as separate tokens. Hunter has no phone product; numbers appear only on some personal-email results.

Which Hunter alternatives are the cheapest?

For about 2,000 emails a month, Skrapp.io and Icypeas at 39 USD (Icypeas plus VAT, for 4,000 credits), then Hunter itself and Prospeo at 49 USD. For the lowest entry bill, Icypeas starts at 19 USD plus VAT for 1,000 credits. Scalelist and Anymail Finder cost 89 USD at 2,000 credits, so neither is the cheap choice for email alone.

Does Hunter charge for emails it cannot find?

No. Hunter’s help center says a search that finds no email is free, and the same search counts once per billing period. Verifying an address costs 0.5 credit, whatever the result. Most alternatives here also skip misses; Lusha charges every API request at least 1 credit, and ContactOut does not publish a rule.

Do unused credits roll over with Hunter alternatives?

It depends on the tool. Icypeas credits never expire, and Skrapp.io lets you keep them even after you cancel. Snov.io and Anymail Finder roll credits over while you stay subscribed. Scalelist and Findymail roll over up to 2x the plan, and Lusha does on monthly Pro and Premium. Prospeo resets credits every cycle. Hunter does not publish a rollover rule.

Is Scalelist a good Hunter.io alternative?

For teams that call, yes. Scalelist, an AI Lead Finder, returns verified work emails and mobile numbers from a one-sentence description, charges 1 credit per email and 20 per mobile only when found, and starts at 29 USD a month. For email-only volume it is not: Hunter costs about half as much per email, and Scalelist does not send sequences.
