How are ZoomInfo and Apollo different?
ZoomInfo and Apollo differ most in how you buy, what a phone number costs and what happens to credits you do not use. These six differences change the bill or the daily workflow.
- A quote against a price list. ZoomInfo says paid plans “are not published at a fixed price” and every contract is scoped to your usage. Apollo lists every plan, and you can buy Basic or Professional by card.
- Contract length. “ZoomInfo paid plans are annual subscriptions,” and they “include a minimum number of seats.” Apollo’s Basic and Professional plans can be paid monthly. Only Organization, at 119 USD per seat, is annual only with 3 seats minimum.
- How a contact is charged. ZoomInfo charges one credit per exported record and says consumption “varies by data depth”. Apollo charges 1 credit for an email and 8 for a phone number.
- Credit rules. ZoomInfo monthly credits do not roll over, bulk credits expire at the end of the contract, and two users exporting the same record pay two credits. Apollo refunds the credit if an Apollo-verified email bounces when you send to it from Apollo within 30 days of the request, but “doesn’t refund any credits for mobile numbers.”
- What is in the box. Apollo includes sequences on every plan (2 on the free plan, unlimited on Basic) and a US dialer at 2 credits a minute. ZoomInfo lists intent signals and “Automated outreach sequences and dialer capabilities” as add-ons to its base plans.
- Depth of company data. ZoomInfo claims 500M+ professional profiles, org charts and intent signals across 4,500+ topics. Apollo claims 240M contacts and 30M companies, and adds 12 intent topics on Organization only.

Apollo vs ZoomInfo pricing
Apollo’s price is on its website and ZoomInfo’s is not. Here is everything each vendor publishes, plus one third-party figure for ZoomInfo.
ZoomInfo pricing
- ZoomInfo Lite: 0 USD, 10 credits a month (25 with Community Edition), no credit card and no annual commitment. A reveal shows a business email and a direct or office phone. Integrations need a paid plan.
- Paid plans: quoted. ZoomInfo names the quote drivers as team size, credit volume, features such as intent and WebSights, integrations and API access, and contract length.
- Third-party data: Vendr, a software buying marketplace, reports a median ZoomInfo contract of 33,500 USD a year across 1,573 purchases, from 7,213 to 155,820 USD. That is Vendr’s data, not a ZoomInfo price.
ZoomInfo’s own pricing article also warns that “Renewal pricing can increase from the initial contract rate”. Our ZoomInfo pricing breakdown shows the cost per record at different export volumes.
Apollo pricing
| Apollo plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Credits per seat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 USD | 0 USD | 75 a month |
| Basic | 49 USD per seat a month | 65 USD per seat a month | 2,500 a month |
| Professional | 79 USD per seat a month | 99 USD per seat a month | 4,000 a month |
| Organization | 119 USD per seat a month, 3 seats min | Annual only | 72,000 a year |
The Inbound and Advanced Dialer add-ons cost 149 USD per team a month each (119 USD billed yearly). International, parallel and power dialing sit in Advanced Dialer.
At list price, an Apollo phone number costs about 0.21 USD on Basic billed monthly (65 USD for 2,500 credits, times 8) and 0.16 USD billed yearly. One Basic seat covers at most 312 phone reveals a month. Our Apollo pricing guide works through every plan.

Cost per contact: ZoomInfo vs Apollo
ZoomInfo does not publish a cost per contact, because its paid plans are quote-only. Apollo’s can be worked out from its price list: about 2 to 2.6 cents per email and 0.16 to 0.21 USD per phone number, if you use every credit.
| Apollo plan and billing | Cost per credit | Email (1 credit) | Phone (8 credits) | Email and phone (9 credits) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic, billed yearly | 1.96 cents (49 USD for 2,500) | 2.0 cents | 0.16 USD | 0.18 USD |
| Basic, billed monthly | 2.6 cents (65 USD for 2,500) | 2.6 cents | 0.21 USD | 0.23 USD |
| Professional, billed yearly | 1.98 cents (79 USD for 4,000) | 2.0 cents | 0.16 USD | 0.18 USD |
| Professional, billed monthly | 2.48 cents (99 USD for 4,000) | 2.5 cents | 0.20 USD | 0.22 USD |
| Organization, billed yearly | 1.98 cents (119 USD for 6,000) | 2.0 cents | 0.16 USD | 0.18 USD |
Credits per seat a month and list prices are from Apollo’s pricing page; Organization’s 72,000 credits a year are 6,000 a month. Two Apollo rules move these numbers. A phone found through its multi-source enrichment can cost more: Apollo’s API docs say it typically uses 8 to 25 credits, and some configurations 45+. HQ and corporate phone numbers cost nothing, and so does a lookup that finds no data on Apollo’s own records.
ZoomInfo charges one credit per exported record and says consumption “varies by data depth”, but it does not publish what a credit costs or how many credits a record with a mobile uses. The closest figure is our math on Vendr’s median: at 33,500 USD a year, one exported record costs 6.70 USD if you export 5,000 a year and 0.67 USD at 50,000. That is third-party data, not a ZoomInfo price.
To compare the two on your own numbers, ask ZoomInfo for the total credits in your quote and the credits a record with a mobile uses, then divide the contract price by the records you will really export.
Which has better phone data, ZoomInfo or Apollo?
On measured data we can only answer for Apollo, because it was in our benchmark and ZoomInfo was not. Here is what each side gives you to go on.
Apollo, measured. We ran the same list of founders per region through 8 data providers and published the raw data in our B2B data provider comparison. Apollo found an email for 77% of the North America list, 77% in EMEA and 74% in APAC. It found a phone number for 50%, 63% and 8%. Latin America was not tested.

ZoomInfo, claimed. ZoomInfo publishes claims, not a test: 135M+ direct dial numbers and “87% Mobile Number Accuracy”. It says its data is “verified through a multi-source system combining machine learning, third-party partners, and 300+ human researchers.” We have not tested it.
If your team calls into APAC, Apollo’s 8% is the first number to check against your own list.
A third option: Scalelist, if mobile numbers are the job
If phone numbers are the reason you are comparing ZoomInfo and Apollo, a pay-per-result tool may fit better than either platform. Scalelist is an AI Lead Finder: you describe the people you want in one sentence and get them back with verified work emails and mobile numbers.
- How you pay: 1 credit per lead found, 1 per email found, 20 per mobile found, and nothing when nothing is found. Plans run from 29 USD a month for 500 credits to 649 USD for 20,000, with no seats and no annual contract (Scalelist plans and credits).
- Measured: in the same benchmark, Scalelist found a phone number for 87% of the North America list, 73% in EMEA, 75% in APAC and 85% in Latin America.
- Where it is not the better buy: a mobile costs 0.65 to 1.16 USD at list price, more than Apollo’s 0.16 to 0.21 USD. There is no sequencer, dialer or intent data, and HubSpot is the only native CRM. Scalelist operates under the GDPR and Singapore’s PDPA with a DPA and SCCs, and does not publish an audited certification like the ones ZoomInfo and Apollo hold.

Describe your buyer in one sentenceHow to choose between ZoomInfo and Apollo
Choose between ZoomInfo and Apollo by the job the tool must do, then by how you want to pay for it.

- List what your reps used last quarter. Contacts, phone numbers, sequences, the dialer, intent. If sequences and the dialer matter, Apollo includes them; ZoomInfo sells them as add-ons.
- Price your real phone and email mix. On Apollo a phone costs 8 times an email. Ask ZoomInfo how many credits a record with a mobile uses on your quote.
- Get ZoomInfo’s terms in writing. Credits per seat, whether a record with no phone still costs a credit, rollover, and the renewal cap.
- Test on your own accounts. Run the same 100 contacts through both in the regions you sell into, and count connected calls.
- Count everyone who needs data. Every Apollo user is a seat. On ZoomInfo, two users exporting the same record pay twice.
If neither fits, compare ZoomInfo competitors and Apollo alternatives side by side.

FAQ
Is ZoomInfo better than Apollo?
It depends on the team. ZoomInfo is the stronger fit for larger teams that want company data, org charts and intent under one annual contract and can accept a custom quote. Apollo is the better fit for small and mid-sized teams that want published per-seat prices, monthly billing and sequences plus a dialer included. For phone numbers outside North America, test both on your own accounts.
Is Apollo cheaper than ZoomInfo?
At list price, almost always. Apollo Basic costs 49 USD per seat a month billed yearly, or 65 USD monthly, with 2,500 credits per seat a month. ZoomInfo does not publish paid prices; Vendr, a buying marketplace, reports a median contract of 33,500 USD a year. ZoomInfo Lite is free but includes only 10 credits a month.
What is the cost per contact on ZoomInfo vs Apollo?
On Apollo, about 2 cents per email and 0.16 USD per phone number on Basic billed yearly, or 2.6 cents and 0.21 USD billed monthly, if you use every credit. ZoomInfo does not publish a cost per contact: it charges one credit per exported record on a quoted contract. Our math on Vendr’s 33,500 USD median gives 6.70 USD per record at 5,000 exports a year and 0.67 USD at 50,000.
Apollo vs ZoomInfo: which is better for a small team?
Apollo, for most small teams. You can buy one seat by card, pay monthly, and get data, sequences and a US dialer in the same plan. ZoomInfo paid plans are annual, include a minimum number of seats and are sold on quotes. A small team that only needs contact data can also start on ZoomInfo Lite, with 10 credits a month.
Does ZoomInfo or Apollo charge for contacts it cannot find?
Apollo does not, for its own data: “You aren’t charged if a source can’t find any data.” Its multi-source enrichment is the exception, because “Sources that return unverified data still charge credits.” ZoomInfo does not publish whether an export with no phone or email still costs a credit, so ask for it in writing before you sign.
Which has better mobile numbers, ZoomInfo or Apollo?
We can only speak for Apollo. In our own benchmark it found a phone number for 50% of a North America list, 63% in EMEA and 8% in APAC. ZoomInfo was not in the test; it claims 135M+ direct dials and 87% mobile number accuracy. Run 100 of your own contacts through both and count connected calls.
Is there an alternative to ZoomInfo and Apollo for mobile numbers?
Yes. Scalelist, an AI Lead Finder, returns verified work emails and mobile numbers from a one-sentence description and charges 20 credits per mobile found, nothing for a miss, with no seats. Its phone credit costs more than Apollo’s at list price, and it has no sequencer or dialer. New accounts get 20 free credits to test it.
